About Daniel

  • Daniel met his wife, Lori, while at Linfield College. He graduated with a Business Degree in 1998, the same year they married and began a family.

  • He started his first business as a painting contractor while in college. Daniel then became the Director of Marketing for Evergreen International Aviation.

  • Evergreen exposed Daniel to opportunities around the world: Contract negotiations, pricing/cost analysis, human resources, company sale/acquisition, joint venture opportunities, litigation, and lobbying. 

  • In 2007, Daniel purchased Maupin’s Stoves and Spas in The Dalles. This meant a move home for Lori, who grew up there.

  • Daniel remains the owner of the shop, and credits his experiences running it, such as overcoming red tape, as a major influencer for his decision-making as a legislator.

  • He has enjoyed coaching soccer, basketball and baseball over the years. 

  • Daniel, along with his family, have a strong Christian faith and set of values.

My dad is the hardest working person I know. He is so dedicated to making Oregon better. I was proud to watch him work in Salem because I know he genuinely cares.
